Historically, the village of Demanova was one the first municipalities settled in the region of Liptov (nowadays, it is a part of the town Liptovsky Mikulas). Its name originated from the name of the first resident Damian, a son of the first ground holder in the municipality. Demanova is situated at the foot of the Low Tatras Mountains on the main road to the well-known winter sports centre Jasna in Demanovska Valley (Demanovska dolina), not far from the reservoir Liptovska Mara, Aquapark Tatralandia, and Thermal park Besenova. Apart from lovely nature of the Low Tatra Mountains that annually attract thousands of visitors for tourism and skiing, underground treasures also are objects of tourists´ interest. Mention the Demanovska Ice Cave and the Demanovska Cave of Liberty that are only 6 – 8 km from the municipality.

The village is spreading along the 1st class road no. 584 connecting Liptovsky Mikulas and Jasna. From the view of tourist traffic and natural beauties this part is situated at the strategic place – at the foot of the Low Tatra Mountains near the well-known winter sports resort Jasna and not far from the water reservoir Liptovska Mara, and the thermal bathing places Besenova and Tatralandia. All in a short distance within 20 km.

Demanovska Valley is the most visited locality in the Low Tatra Mountains and is (Demanovska dolina) spreading over the northern part of the Low Tatra Mountains. Ideal ski slopes, widely famous caves, possibilities for the summer tourism, beautiful fauna and flora, and suitable climatic conditions have contributed to the development of the tourist spot in the area. Gradually, Jasna has been developed into the larger ski and tourist centre in Europe. The resort is stretching over the northern hills of Chopok (the second highest peak in the main ridge of the Low Tatras) and Derese in the height from 950 to 2024 m as little as 15 km from Liptovsky Mikulas and 12 km from Demanova. Jasna is a part of the National Park of the Low Tatras.
